is over the moon to appear in the premiere of Americano! Maria participated in its development through The Phoenix Theatre Company, along with other new works including Lunch at Audrey’s, The Relief Society, Community, Jennifer’s Birth, and The Up Side of Down. Alyssa Gomez(Ceci)

is honored to make her debut with The Phoenix Theatre Company in Americano! A New York native with a BA in Acting/Directing from Emerson College, Alyssa was last seen as Vanessa in the Portland Center Stage production of In The Heights and was also part of the developmental lab of Victory Train. Joseph Cannon – (Martin Valdovinos)

is a proud United States Marine Corps Veteran who achieved the rank of Sergeant before the end of his enlistment. He is a former law enforcement officer. He most recently appeared with The Phoenix Theatre Company in the staged reading of this very musical as Martin Valdovinos. Additional AZ credits include: In The Heights as Kevin Rosario, Spamalot as King Arthur, and White Christmas as Bob Wallace at The Phoenix Theatre Company, Equivocation as William Shakespeare and Much Ado About Nothing as Don John at Southwest Shakespeare Company, and Carousel as Billy Bigelow at MET. He has also been seen as a featured soloist for the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra.

Justin Figueroa (Carlos Ledezma)

is thrilled to be making his debut at The Phoenix Theatre Company in Americano! with this tremendous cast and creative team!  His previous credits include playing the role of Johnny Cash in Million Dollar Quartet, The Buddy Holly Story at Beef & Boards, Frozen at Disney’s Hyperion Theater, Home Street Home at the Center Theater Group, JUNK: A Rock Opera at The Public Theater, Once On This Island at Sacramento Music Circus.  As a singer-songwriter he has had the privilege of playing at the Montreal Jazz Festival. Chris Eriksen – (Scott/Ensemble)

is glad to be returning to The Phoenix Theater Company to be a part of this wonderful new piece, Americano!, and is proud to be a part of each step of its evolution over the past years. Most recently, Chris was seen in hit production of Elf: The Musical as Walter Hobbs. Chris is a four-time AriZoni award winner, including best lead actor in I love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change. He has appeared in many commercials, has been seen on PBS, and also performed nationally in various musical comedies. He has performed in all six of the joint productions with the Phoenix Symphony, a delight and honor. A favorite memory for Chris was surviving 23 costume changes per performance in Curtains (Thanks Michael!!!). Locally, some of Chris’s favorite shows have been Billy Elliot, White Christmas, Hairspray, Memphis, La Cage Aux Folles, The Producers, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, The Will Rogers Follies, A Chorus Line, Into the Woods, Jesus Christ Superstar, Chicago, Little Shop of Horrors, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, City of Angels, and many, many more.

A Christmas Story at All Puppet Players, Audrey 2 in Little Shop of Horrors at Spotlight Youth Theatre, and Barfee in The 25th Annual… Spelling Bee at GCC!

is the proud daughter of an immigrant and honored to be a part of Americano! Jessie Jo is an award winning actor and senior attending ASU’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism. You may have seen Jessie Jo as Nicola in The Phoenix Theatre Company’s production of Kinky Boots or Francine Valli (Female Swing) in Jersey Boys. Favorite credits: Maria (West Side Story), Dorothy (The Wizard of Oz), Suzy Simpson (The Marvelous Wonderettes), Zaneeta Shinn (The Music Man) at the Orpheum Theatre. Previous The Phoenix Theatre Company credits: Mama Mia!, Billy Elliot, Gypsy, and various New Works projects. 

Shani Barrett – (Jessica Flores/Ensemble)

has been working on Americano! for about two years and could not be more excited to be a part of the world premiere! Being a part of a new work was a career goal and Shani will be forever grateful to Michael Barnard for giving her this amazing opportunity. Shani is a graduate of New York University’s TISCH School of the Arts and has been seen in The Phoenix Theatre Company’s productions of Kinky Boots, West Side Story, Mamma Mia!, Bullets Over Broadway, In The Heights and as Hunyak in Chicago. 

Nicholas Flores – (Celso/Male Ensemble)

is excited to reprise his role in Americano! at The Phoenix Theatre Company. While working closely with The Phoenix Theatre Company for over 10 years now, he was last seen on the Mainstage as an ensemble member for In The Heights, which he choreographed as well. Nick is a member of the Cirque Du Soleil family and has worked with award winning crews such as the Electrolytes Dance Crew. He was recently nominated for a Zoni for best choreographer for a musical and received the award of best choreographer in a professional musical by He was last seen on the west coast tour of The Alexander Project: A Tribute to Hamilton where he was a featured dancer, MC, and Choreographer. 

Ricco Machado-Torres – (Celso/Ensemble)
is a Phoenix based theater, film and voice actor. He is elated to be making his debut with The Phoenix Theater Company in this original work! Previous theater roles include The Bishop of Lax in See How They Run (Scottsdale Community College), Coupeau in The Scarlet Pimpernel and Pablo in Sister Act (Hale Theater), Mercer Steves in Boy Gets Girl (Mesa Encore Theatre- Black Box), William Spiver in Flora and Ulysses (Childsplay), Lt. Brannigan in Guys and Dolls (ASU Lyric Opera Theater), Lupe Valenzuela in Haboob and Pablo in A Streetcar Named Desire (ASU Mainstage), Chip Tolentino in 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Gibbs in Dogfight* (Brelby *-AZ Premiere) and Peter Schmidt in Frankenstein (Theater Works- Peoria). Machado-Torres has also been featured on the science fiction podcast The Never Rad Miscellany and The Sneak Diss Sneaker Podcast. Ricco has also been in student films for ASU and UTV Studios at NAU.

She is a proud recent graduate of Grand Canyon University and holds a BA in Theatre Performance. is immensely honored to be a part of this incredible world premiere musical! He has appeared on The Phoenix Theatre Company’s stage in Newsies, West Side Story (Baby John), Elf: The Musical, and the Centennial Applause! Gala. Elyssa Blonder – (Ensemble)

is so excited to be back on The Phoenix Theatre Company stage where she was last seen as Liesl Von Trap in The Sound Of Music this past holiday season. Julian Mendoza – (Tony Valdovinos Understudy)

is a senior in the musical theatre program at Arizona State University. Favorite roles include “Richard” in A New Brain, “Chino” in The Phoenix Symphony workshop of West Side Story. He was also seen on stage at The Phoenix Symphony singing backup for Kristin Chenoweth, was a featured artist in the Utah Festival for Opera and Musical Theatre in Utah, The Barn Theatre in Michigan, and at Quisisana in Maine. Aidan Lutton – (Ensemble/Jackson Understudy)

After his debut musical theatre experience in Newsies at The Phoenix Theatre Company during the 2016-17 season, he was back last seasons for West Side Story. Aidan dances with Master Ballet Academy and has performed with Phoenix Ballet’s The Nutcracker and the world premiere of Snow White. He was recently part of the Applause! Gala cast.
